The brief

Pluck is a six-part series about the sounds nobody notices — a kettle ticking as it cools, a bicycle freewheeling downhill. The producers wanted titles that taught the audience how to watch: slow down, listen small.

The whole brief fit in one sentence: don't illustrate the sounds, draw them.

The approach
01

One line, one take

A single cobalt line draws each episode's opening sound as a continuous gesture — no cuts, no layers. If the line stops, it's because the sound did.

02

Type that holds its breath

The series wordmark appears only when the line finishes, set in a serif cut so quiet it feels like an exhale.

03

Drawn to the score

Every curve is keyframed against the composer's stems — the line accelerates with the attack, drifts with the decay. Motion as notation.
